Indian composer AR Rahman has added to his impressive haul for his track "Jai Ho" from the "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack with two statuettes at the Grammy Awards yesterday. These came in the 'Best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture' and the 'Best motion picture song' categories.

The piece India's "Mozart of Madras" crafted for the 'Best Picture' Oscar movie, has already won Rahman all the most prestigious international awards for soundtracks, including a best original score statuette and best song at the Oscars, a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award, a Critics Choice Award, The Golden Globe and now the music industry's biggest honour -- a golden gramophone.

"This is insane, God is great again," Rahman said as he accepted his second Grammy award.

AR Rahman is often called a genius and he deserves his awards, but "Jai Ho" is far from his best work. It is more a case of right place, right time and right country.

Rahman's rivals in the soundtrack category included Steve Jordan for "Cadillac Records," Quentin Tarantino for "Inglourious Basterds," and the producers of "Twilight" and "True Blood." In the best song category Rahman's beaten rivals included Bruce Springsteen for his song "The Wrestler," from the Oscar-nominated movie of the same name, reports Times of India.

In the past, Indian Grammy Award winners have always been in collaboration with Western musicians.

AR Rahman's individual win is therefore unique in the 51 year-old history of the awards.
